FAQs
What is d-codex?
It’s a project born from personal health struggles and education gaps, which is innovation-focused STEAM education initiative dedicated to transforming how young people learn science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths. It was created to make learning hands-on, meaningful, accessible, and inclusive-especially for students who struggles in traditional settings. The Lab develops dynamic programs that blend research-informed methods, design thinking, and experiential learning to build confidence and capability in areas like coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, and computational thinking. It also offers specialised professional development for educators so they can bring engaging and adaptable STEAM experiences into their classrooms.
Who started this?
A founder with chronic health challenges since the age of 11, who saw the limits of traditional learning. She grew up navigating mainstream education and workplaces while living with lifelong whole-body pain and health conditions that made rigid systems difficult to access. While learning and working in environments designed for consistent attendance and physical capacity, it highlighted how many talented individuals are quietly excluded when accessibility is treated as secondary.
Why focus on education?
Focusing on education comes from lived experience and expertise. The founder of d-codex STEAM Labs holds advanced degrees in engineering and teaching and is currently researching AI and inclusive STEAM education at Flinders University. The goal is to design learning technologies and systems that support diverse learners and remove barriers so education becomes accessible and empowering for all. Education is where lasting opportunity is created, and where systems can be redesigned to include those traditionally left behind.
By creating supportive, flexible learning environments tailored to diverse needs, d-codex STEAM Labs helps students who struggle in traditional systems access STEAM learning and build meaningful skills. Research supports the development of inclusive technologies and teaching approaches, ensuring education adapts to learners rather than excluding them. The result is greater accessibility, engagement, and opportunity for students with diverse health, learning, or life circumstances.
How does it help?
Can I get involved?
Yes. We welcome collaboration and community support to grow together with d-codex STEAM Labs. Whether through partnerships, ideas, volunteering, or sharing perspectives, involvement helps shape more inclusive and meaningful STEAM learning opportunities. Education improves when communities contribute, and the goal is to build solutions that reflect diverse needs and experiences.
